I’m going to dispel a downright dangerous myth in the BDSM community.

The myth: “Place your hand on your partner’s neck, where the veins are. Specifically, the arterial vein that leads into the head (and one of the most important veins that carries oxygen to the brain”. The theory is that “you’re not cutting off oxygen…so it’s safer :D”

THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT!

Why? Cause your brain kinda needs blood to live. Think of blood as your body’s highway system. It carries essential nutrients (including oxygen) to every organ of your body. Extended deprivation of oxygen (aka no oxygen) leads to cell death and potentially lethal consequences (if a body part is turning dark purple/blue/black/green, you’re risking amputation).

The brain only needs 2-5 minutes of no oxygen before potentially permanent damage is done to the brain.

RISKS OF APPLYING PRESSURE: Everyone is different with their individual chemistry. Some people have naturally higher/lower blood pressure than others. Others have genetic health conditions. Individuals who just had alcohol and/or other drugs (prescription or otherwise) can also alter human body chemistry. This is why it is NOT smart to “applying pressure on veins instead”.

If too much pressure is applied for too long, you risk your partner stroking out.Strokes can potentially have life long consequences, depending on how severe the stroke is. It can also possibly be deadly and/or cause other serious health conditions.

PLEASE STOP THIS LIE BEING SPREAD!

I don’t want someone dead because of faulty information being spread around, especially when it comes to human body well being.

Also: there is never a 100% safe way/be in control of a breath play scene or arterial play scene.

also when i say sirius black is a drama queen what i actually mean is that sirius black had an abusive childhood with awful, bigoted parents, lived through and fought in the first wizarding war, lost two of his closest friends was betrayed by a third and seperated from the fourth, spent 12 years in a cell being forced to relive all of his worst memories, before escaping prison only find himself in the midst of another war and being forced into his abusive childhood home whilst suffering from depression/ptsd and generally he brushed everything off and acted like he didn’t give a damn (maybe he broke down once/twice in front of james bc it was james so he could) but generally he internalized shit and did not make a big deal out of things he would be perfectly entitled to make a big deal out of…. but at the same time he would wax poetic for two hours about the bitter sting of betrayal after remus stole his eggs at breakfast

*Slams fist on table*

I’ve been on this website for three and a half years and I’ve never seen such a perfect post about Sirius Black.
